A Night Dedicated to Those Who Served
On Saturday, November 8, Mohegan Sun Arena was filled with more than the excitement of hockey—it was filled with gratitude, purpose, and community as Workers For Warriors proudly served as the presenting sponsor of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ Veterans Day Game.
As a veteran-owned small business powered by veterans and dedicated to supporting veterans, Workers For Warriors was honored to partner with the Penguins for a night that went far beyond the scoreboard. The game served as a reminder that honoring service means showing up, giving back, and standing together.
Giving Back Before the Puck Dropped
Before the 6:05 p.m. puck drop against the Utica Comets, Penguins fans were encouraged to take part in donation drives benefiting local veterans. Non-perishable food items were collected at the East Gate to support the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center food pantry, helping veterans in need within our own community.
Fans also donated comfort and activity items for residents of the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton, including crossword and sudoku books, anti-slip gripper socks, winter hats, gloves, and other essentials designed to bring comfort and care.
Saluting Our Veterans
One of the most meaningful moments of the evening came through the Penguins’ “Salute Your Veteran” initiative. Fans submitted photos and stories of family members and friends who served our country, which were displayed on the videoboard throughout the game.
Seeing those faces and names honored in front of a packed arena created a powerful tribute and a shared moment of remembrance.
About Workers For Warriors
Workers For Warriors was founded in 2019 by owner Joe Webb as a one-man operation serving residential properties in the Wilkes-Barre area. Since then, the company has grown into a multi-industry organization providing traffic control management, landscaping, and janitorial cleaning services.
Despite that growth, the mission remains unchanged: to take everyday services and turn them into meaningful support for veterans.
Workers For Warriors is also a proud Corporate Champion of the Wounded Warrior Project and an ambassador for the foundation. Through fundraising walks, 5Ks, hosted events, and direct business donations, the company continues to raise awareness and funds to support wounded veterans nationwide.
A Shared Commitment to Service
Partnering with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the Veterans Day Game allowed Workers For Warriors to amplify that mission on a larger stage—reaching thousands of fans while making a tangible impact for veterans both locally and nationally.
While the Penguins battled on the ice, the true victory of the night was the collective effort to honor and support those who have served.
